Manager
I was first introduced to Sleep Medicine through my husband. I had immediately noticed that in between the episodes of snoring, my husband was not breathing, and I persuaded him to see a doctor. He was soon diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and
undergoing CPAP therapy. My husband was so amazed with the difference
it had made in his life that he began working as a Sleep Technician. I
soon followed in his footsteps. Although my B.A. in Literature didn't
prepare me for Sleep Medicine, I quickly discovered just how important
Sleep Medicine was to me. Between my training as a sleep technician and my ambition to learn a new trade, I
quickly began my service to the community. Not
only have I found a career I am passionate about, but I can also take
pride in knowing that I am serving my community and improving the
quality of life of its members. I am also now a
Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT).

Lead Sleep Technician
I have always been a snorer, so it didn't surprise me when my wife told
me that I was keeping her awake during the night. What did surprise me
is that she mentioned that I wasn't breathing as well. She tried to get
me to go to the doctor, but it wasn't until I was assigned to the sleep
lab in Portsmouth Naval Hospital that I decided to follow her advice.
To my surprise, I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and began my
CPAP therapy. I finished out my service with the Navy learning about
Sleep Medicine in the sleep lab. When I returned to civilian life, I
found a sleep lab that was willing to hire and train me. I have been a
Sleep Technician since 2005 and love it. I look forward to
serving you and your community.
